This side-slitted Kimono Sweater is a celebration of the Chinese language’s complex nature.
The embroidered graphic text hails from a Chinese poem entitled ‘Shī Shì shí shī shǐ’, or ‘The Lion-Eating Poet in the Stone Den’. Featuring 92 characters, in this poem each syllable is pronounced with only the sound shi, yet thanks to the tonal nature of Chinese this same syllable, when repeated, tells an entire story.
Showing the shifting nature of language itself, here the written form is represented as something fluid.
KAIZEN’s debut Kimono Sweater is 320gsm and 100% cotton, perfectly completed by our circular logo also embroidered on the top back.
